End of Year Wrap Up: 2016

Hey Guys!

This is my end of Year Wrap Up and holy crap can you believe that 2016 is over already! On here you will see what’s happened in my life, what I’ve read (if I even had time to read!)  what I’m listening to, what’s on my to read and listen to list.  I’ll also post a list of all the blogs that I’ve posted all year.

Well this one heck of a year.  From my busy work and school schedule to me getting injured.. and sick… it’s been hectic to say the least.

Going on in my Life:

  • I started Graduate school!
  • Had a new niece be born
  • I passed my first semester in graduate school!
  • I’ve been thinking about my education lately and right now I’m seriously questioning myself and whether I want to and can afford to continue.  I know that it’ll be worth it in the end, but do I really want to wrack up the debt to finish.  I’m not sure right now… but I’ll figure it out.

I’d like to thank  all of the people who have read and followed my blogs this year.  I’ve enjoyed writing for ya’ll this year! My goal for 2017 is to have at least 50 follower by the end of the year.

Below is a list of things that I’ve read, am reading, am listening to, and is on my to read list.  I’ve also linked each one so that they are easier for you to find.

Books I’m Reading For School:

  • I’m happy to say that I’m done with my school readings… at least for a little while.  Right now I’m on winter break right now and school doesn’t start again until almost the end of January.  But I had a grand total of over 30 books that I had to read for school for just two classes.

What I’m Listening to (Audible):                                                                                                      (this depends on my mood)

What I Finished on Audible:

I’m not going to lie, with the exception of every now and again, I’ve been listening to YouTube videos while I drive. :/

To Read list:

I have to say that my to read list isn’t getting any smaller… I haven’t really read much this month between getting sick and working… I’m hoping to get some major reading done this coming year.

Favorite Blog posts that I’ve discovered this month:

I’ve been doing better at catching up with the backlog of posts that I have wanted to read.  I’m still not caught up but I’m getting there.  But I’ve been enjoying posts that The Swirl have done as well as Hayle Olson, this year I’m looking forward to all the posts that will be coming.

What I got for Christmas!

Hey guys!

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a bit, but I got sick around the end of the second week of December and I’m just now feeling better. (No joke I spent almost an entire week sleeping on the couch or recliner because that’s the only place I could fall asleep.  I also finished almost two full jugs of orange juice)  I’m lucky that I had quite a few blogs either pre-done or at least mostly complete so that all I had to do was finish them and post.  I’m also really luck that I’ve pretty much figured out how to schedule posts so that I was able to get them up.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Christmas or holiday for those who don’t celebrate Christmas.  Today’s post will be a what I got for Christmas post, for those of you who want to read it if not I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled posts soon.  I’m super excited for the coming year and can’t wait to see what will happen.

Christmas in our house is usually pretty small and cozy.  But we also celebrate with my sister’s in-laws, (because who doesn’t enjoy watching all the kids open their gifts?) over there it’s much bigger and more festive.

What I Got For Christmas!

  • DermaCare Vibrating Facial Cleansing brush – I’m not going to lie, I bought this for myself because I need a new one and I’m not quite ready to invest in the super expensive clarisonic. (Though I really want a mia fit).  I’m hoping this will be much less abrasive than using a wash cloth on my face.
  • Clothes – My sister’s mother-in-law gave me two shirts for Christmas.  One was a 3/4 sleeve heathered black cotton button down and an all black shirt with a velvety skull and crossbone at the center by Betsy Johnson (OMG! I love this brand not only the clothes but the purses which she got one for me last year for chirstmas!)  I also got my very first VS Pink Christmas pj set… I’m super excited for this.
  • Food and Candy – Turtles Caramel Nut Clusters and Hickory Farmhouse Sampler.  Because you can’t go wrong with food and candy!
  • VS Pink toiletry bag – I love this so much, I’m always needing a bag to stuff my toiletries into.
  • Wireless Keyboard – This is something that I’ve been wanting for a while for my iPad mini.  I haven’t tried it out yet, but I’m hopeful that it will work out great.
  • Gift Cards – Because free money is always great.  My sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephew got me a Starbucks and Ulta gift card and my sister’s sister-in-law got me another gift card for Starbucks.  (Starbucks and make up! Can’t go wrong there.)
  • Vera Bradley – My BFF Jax got me a Lighten Up Expandable Bag in the camofloral print (so pretty!) as well as a Lighten Up Slim Crossbody in the same print.  (She knows me so well!)
  • Bath Stuff – Jax also got me some bath stuff in a lavender scent and some white fluffy slippers.
  • Jewlery – I got a few pairs of earrings this year as well.
  • Movies – Also as a me gift I bought both Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Suicide Squad.
  • Kitchen stuff – My cousin got me a new pan, because I was complaining that my old one was sticking.  (I know I’m weird, but I love new pots and pans!)

Well that was all I got for Christmas, Question of the Day: What did you get for Christmas this year?  Comment down below!

Until Next Time!

#Blur Update

Hey Guys!

It’s been a while since I posted the Cover Reveal for Cambria Hebert’s new book #Blur.  She’s been posting teasers almost daily to tide us over until the books release on Janurary 10, 2017.  That’s only 13 more days, I for one can’t wait. You can find the facebook page here and sign up for the group.  People are usually posting daily on it, and this year we did a gift exchange through elfster that was fun.

You can also check out her personal website, cambriahebert.com for more information.  You’ll want to do this before the 10th as that will be when the Cambria and the facebook page will be hosting a Release blitz for the Release of #Blur.  Anyway, I will be a posting about the release in another special post on the 10th.

So to tide you over until the next post next here are some teasers for the book that Cambria has been sharing with us:

Well I hope ya’ll are just as excited as I am for this book!

My Current Favorite: TV Shows

Hey Guys!

So today I’m sharing with you my current favorite television shows.  I’m one of those people that always has to have something going in the background, mainly as noise so it’s not to quite.  If I’m studying I’ll play a show that I don’t have pay attention to because I’ve seen so much of it. (Usually NCIS) Now that the semester is over it’s time for me to not only catch up with all my shows but to see what else I can find.  The best part of all of these shows is that you can binge watch them on netflix while waiting for the new episodes to come out on TV!

iZombieIt actually caught me by surprise that I finished this show as fast as I did.  Two seasons finished in about 4 days.  Now of course I’m stuck waiting for the new season to come out, but I still say it was worth it.  You can get caught up in all the twists and turns of show and you never know what’s going to happen next.  This can be found on Netflix.

Supernatural OMG! I can’t even express my feelings this newest season has me in.  I’m actually saving up episodes so I can feel like I’m binge watching them.  I’m actually all caught up on the current season, (except for the last two episodes)  I’m not sure what I’ll do when they decide to finish it off. This can be found on Netflix.

Doctor Who – (since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) I’m not going to lie I have a bit of a problem with British shows.  I’m not sure if it’s the accents or if I’m just that big of a nerd.  But what ever it is I love them.  And I love getting other people onto them too.  Doctor Who is one of my nerdy sides peeking threw.  I actually started this show with the reboot and haven’t stopped since.  This can be found on Netflix.

Sherlock – (since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) I started this one when I was waiting for the newest season of Dr. Who to start up.  I actually thought something was wrong because there were only 3 episodes per season… then I watched the first episode. 90 minutes later and I understand.  If you have time and love to watch amazing deductions this show is one you absolutely have to watch. This can be found on Netflix.

Penny Dreadful – (since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) I actually just started this show, I’ve completed the first season and haven’t gotten to season two yet.  But I’m getting there.  This can be found on Netflix.

Pretty Little Liars(since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) Oh my god! This show… I’m about two seasons behind on this (guess what I’m doing for winter break!) I stopped a few episodes into season five, now that I know that the series just wrapped up and I’ll be able to binge the next two season I’m pretty sure I’ll just start over just to prolong the experience. This can be found on Netflix.

NCIS(since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) This show has special meaning for me.  I started watching this with my grandmother back when they first showed up (not the show, but when they did a guest appearance in JAG) and have been in love ever since.  I can’t think of a time when I can’t watch it.  There isn’t one incarnation of this show that I don’t love.  This can be found on Netflix.

Zero Hour(since I can’t link you to the show, I’ve linked it to the description) I can’t even tell you how much it irritated me when they cancelled this show.  They were barely 3 episodes in when they cut it.  There I was waiting for the 4th episode only to find out they canceled it.  But I’m was super excited to find out that they finished the series and had them up on Amazon.  So about once every couple of months I’ll sit down and binge watch the series.  I’ve even gotten a few other people to watch it.  I’d take a tv movie special as a complete wrap up if given a chance.  You can find the complete show for sale on Amazon.

What are your favorite shows to watch? Leave a comment below.

Until Next Time!

Blogmas Day 23: Winter Skin Routine

Hey Guys!

It’s that time of the year again, where your skin is rebelling and you’re not quite sure what to do with it.  Well my skin is no different.  Right now I have gone the last week without putting on makeup and trying to get my skin to get back to normal.  So I thought I’d share with you my Winter skin routine as well as what I put on it in hopes of normalcy.

  • First thing in the morning what I do is head to the bathroom to wash my face.  The first step in this is using my Garnier Micellar water to clean my face of all the dirt or anything that may have gotten on it during the night.
  • Next, get out my lush cleansing products, Angels on Bare Skin and Ultrabland.  I can’t say enough about these two products.  They are simply amazing and great for my super sensitive really weird skin.  The first product I use is Angels on Bare skin, which is a clay based cleanser.  The second on is Ultrabland which is a wax based cleanser.  After washing my face I rinse it off with warm-hot water.
  • After this I grab my moisturizer which right is the up & up Oil-free facial Moisturizer with spf.  I’ve learned over the years that using an spf is beneficial for your skin.  Having it combined with my moisturizer is a bonus.
  • After this I’ve begun using the tarte maracuja oil in hopes that it’ll help with the patchyness of my skin in my t-zone area.  I’ll let you know in a few weeks how it’s working.
  • Now I do this routine twice a day.  I’ve learned that I have to wash my face twice a day or my face goes on a strike and refuses to be a face.
  • For the rest of my body I use a body scrub exfoliator that I recently purchased from the dead sea spa kiosk at the mall.  This stuff is so good!  I also use a body lotion to keep my body hydrated because I’m one of those people that has super dry skin.  The body lotion is from lush called Charity Pot.  Again I use the lotion twice a day in order to keep my body from being too dry.

Well that’s it for my winter skin routine.  Question of the Day: Do you change anything about your routine depending on the season?  Comment down below.

Until Next Time!

Blogmas Day 22: Holiday/Christmas Sweets exchange

Hey Guys!

Last year my friends and I participated in a sweets exchange and we had a blast.  There were 6 of us and each of us brought something different.  We met over at the Applebee’s and over lunch traded sweets over food and fun.  We’re still trying to decide if we’re going to do one again this year or if we’re going to push it until it’s a little less busy.  But I thought I’d give ya’ll some ideas if ya’ll have something coming up that requires sweets and deserts.  These are some of the easiest fudge recipes that I’ve ever seen and made before!

1. 3 Ingredient Chocolate Fudge

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 can Condensed milk, Sweetened

Instructions

  1. Butter a square pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal of set fudge. Set aside.
  2. In a microwave safe 2 quart bowl, heat chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk, on high for 1 minute. Remove from microwave. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir to combine. If needed, heat an additional 30 seconds. Stir until chips are completely melted and chocolate is smooth.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract. Pour fudge into prepared pan. Let fudge cool completely before cutting into 1 inch squares. (you can place in the refrigerator for 1 hour to speed up the process.)
  4. Store in an airtight container. Fudge does not need to be kept refrigerated.

2. Easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Ingredients

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14oz)
  • 12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups peanut butter
  • Optional: peanuts & chocolate chips for topping

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 pan with foil.
  2. Combine sweetened condensed milk & chocolate chips in a large bowl. Microwave 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add in peanut butter stir until smooth.
  3. Top with desired toppings and refrigerate 1 hour.
  4. Lift out foil and cut into squares.

3. No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

YIELD: 12 Bars

PREP TIME: 10 minutes

TOTAL TIME: 3 hours 10 minutes (includes chilling time)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups graham cracker (2 packs), crumbled
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup + 3 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions:

Do First: Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

1: Using a food processor or blender, pulse graham crackers until crumbly.

2: In a large bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, powered sugar, and 1 cup creamy peanut butter until mixture is well blended.

3: Press mixture into prepared pan.

4: In a microwave safe bowl, microwave milk chocolate chips and 3 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter until melted. Spread over top of peanut butter bars. Place bars in fridge for at least 1 hour or up to 1 day before cutting into squares.

Well I hope this has given you something to think about!  I can tell you that it made me hungry for something sweet.  Question of the Day: What is your favorite holiday sweet?  Comment down below.
Until Next Time!

Beauty and The Beast Tag

Beauty and The Beast Tag

Hi Guys! So I was on a new Book blog I’ve discovered, Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros.  I loved this tag (probably because I love Disney, and I just saw the preview for the new movie) and with the release of the movie coming March 2017, I decided to try it.

You can see all of her answers here!

Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you  (I wasn’t tagged but decided to do it anyway!)
  • Mention the creator → Kirsty @Kirsty and the Cat Read
  • Match a book to each of the songs/characters below
  • Tag as many people as you like

“Tale As Old As Time” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading.

I actually have three series that I will never get tired of .  Since I couldn’t just choose one I decided to show them all.

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

harry-potter-olly-moss-all

“Ah, yes. Harry Potter. Our new — celebrity.”                                                                               -Severus Snape, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

How could I not!  One of these years my sister’s and I will have a Harry Potter Party just because.

The Tower and the Hive series by Anne McCaffrey

towerandhive

This series has been one of my all time favorites for years.  I recommend this to anyone that loves a bit of fantasy, romance, and drama rolled into one book!

The Hashtag Series by Cambria Hebert

Ya’ll are probably tired of hearing me talk about this series… But I can’t get enough of them.  If you read them comment below and let me know how you like them!

Belle – A book you bought for it’s beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too.

Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines

until-friday-night-9781471125027_hr

This cover is actually the first thing that drew me in about this book.  I’ve read other books by Abbi Glines before, but this was the first one that actually had the characters in high school.  I loved this cover because of what it displays.  A small town field, that hits home.  I probably would have read it anyway because Abbi wrote it but it helped that she wrote a good story to go with this cover.  You can also find book 2 in the series, Under the Lights just as amazing.  Her third book in the series is set to be released August 2017.

Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you

Never Been Kissed by C.M. Kars

nbk

I’m not sure what I was thinking when I picked this one up, but it surprised me how much I enjoyed it.  This book is told from Sera’s point of view (if you want Hunter’s point of view read Never been Loved).  I loved Sera’s strength and her sarcasm as well as how she handled the different situations that she found herself in.

Gaston – A book everyone loves that you don’t

Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer

 twilight-books

I feel like I’m going to catch a lot of heat for using this one.  But I have to say that this was one of the series that I just couldn’t get into.  Mainly because I didn’t really like the plot line.  The characters themselves were I guess ok, but I never really agreed with anything else.  Heck, I found fanfiction that used the characters that I liked better and I thought was better written than these books.   Leave a comment if you want a list of them.

Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counterpart

Afra Lyon | The Rowan by Anne McCaffrey

I’m not going to lie this book and pretty much the series has been one of my favorites for quite a long time.  It was a gift from my younger sister when she was in the 4th or 5th grade.  Our school had a book rummage sale and she said that it was the only book there that look like me.  The first cover is actually the one that was on my book when I got it, the second is the new revamped cover.  I’m not sure which one I love more but I do think that the new covers for this series are amazing!

Now I love all the characters, but Afra was one of my favorites.  He put up with a lot to get where he was and still was like family to the main character.  To the point where you could never see a point were he wasn’t in it and wasn’t loved.  His sense of humor was also pretty hilarious.

I think it’s time for me to re-read this series again!

If you want a full account of the characters you can find that here.

Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumier & Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

fault-in-our-stars-cover

Hmm. I can’t say Harry Potter again, can I? No? Okay, fine. In that case, I’m going to go with a book that I only read a couple of months ago, but really picked me up when I was feeling a little bit low. Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne is a funny, touching, wonderful, feminist ode to friendship, growing up and tackling mental health. Read it.

“Something There” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end

The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

hgs

You know it wasn’t even until the second movie that I actually picked up the first book.  I usually read the books before the movies come out, but because I hate not liking a film because they forgot things… or added things that were there I decided to go the other way.  However, after the second movie I was too impatient to wait to see what happened next so I got the books on my kindle and read them.  It only took a week to read them all.  All things considered I was actually surprised how long it was before I was hooked.  I think I was halfway done with the second book before I couldn’t put it down.  I was pretty much just irritated with the characters.

Be my guest:

No pressure!

I will eventually get these books reviewed, as well as all the other books that are on my list.  But until then know that I recommend them to everyone!

If you haven’t seen anything on the new Beauty and the Beast movie you can find that here.  This is the official trailer for the movie.  It looks really good!

Until Next Time!

Blogmas Day 21: Favorite Winter Fragrances

Hey Guys!

Have you ever looked at your dresser and realized you have so many perfumes and you don’t know which one to use?  Yea me too.  I’ve realized that depending on what the season is, I’ll choose a different scent for the day.  Like during the summer I choose body sprays… usually by Bath and Body Works or Victoria Secret.  During the winter is no different.  I’ve gotten a little more sophisticated in my scents ever since I started working as a vendor.  However, no matter the time of the year I always use something that is light and fresh.

  • Coach
  • Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
  • Dior J’adore
  • Jimmy Choo Illicit Flower
  • Gucci Bamboo

Well these are my go to scents in the winter.  Question of the Day: What is your go to favorite scent?

Until Next Time!

Blogmas Day 20: Winter Hair Care Routine

Hey Guys!

So I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed that during the winter your hair does something completely different.  I’ve learned that going outside with wet hair is a bad idea and that not using conditioner is wrong… even though I very rarely use conditioner.  So I thought I’d give you my winter hair care routine.

  • As bad as this may sound I usually only wash my hair only 3 times a week.  Because if I wash it too much my hair gets super brittle and dry.
  • The products that I use are Lush’s I Love Juicy (Shampoo) and Happy Happy Joy Joy (Conditioner)
  • That said I only condition my hair once a week.  I’m not sure about your hair, but mine can get extremely greasy if I use conditioner every time I wash my hair.
  • Also once a week I use Verb Leave-in Mist
  • Now for those of you who are hair dressers I’m sorry… but I usually use a paddle brush to brush out my wet hair.  But I do use a shower comb in the shower to loosen the tangles.
  • Lastly, once I’ve brushed out my hair I divide it into two sections and braid it to keep it from getting tangled and when I get up the next morning it’s so easy to work with.
  • Bonus tip: If you use hot tools on your hair, try and use heat protectant before you blow dry, curl or straighten.

Well that’s what I do to my hair during the winter.  Question of the Day: What do you do differently to your hair during the winter?

Until Next Time!

Blogmas Day 19: Stocking Stuffer ideas

Hey Guys!

Welcome to the last in my gift ideas series.  I don’t know about you but this is the one that every year I’m either stumped by it or spend way too much on the stuff to go in them.  So my challenge this year is to keep each item to $5 and under.  (Which since I found a new favorite store is super easy!)   I’ve already done a post for buying gifts for the woman in your life or for that hard to buy for teenage girl and for the men now time for the little gifts!

Also one of the YouTuber’s that I watch did a video on this that is awesome! If you want to check out the Melea Show you can find her here.

Everything that I’m finding is at Walmart (WM), Dollar Tree (DT), Target (T), 5 below (5b)and Ulta (U).  Don’t forget depending on where you live prices may vary but it shouldn’t be much, especially with the dollar tree and 5 below.
