For me, choice might as well be a wish.
My parents died in a fiery car crash when I was barely sixteen.
I’m gay.
I’m also totally in love with my brother.
I didn’t choose any of that. In fact, I’ve tried like hell to deny it. But here I am in all my gay, brother-loving, no-parentals glory.
Technically, Max isn’t my brother. Not by blood anyway. That should make it less ick, right?
Considering he calls my parents mom and dad, probably not.
Also, did I mention he’s straight?
So that’s me: the freestyle swimmer doing my best to keep my sexuality on the down-low while simultaneously wishing my feelings for Max will evaporate into thin air.
Too bad he acts like he’s my keeper and my heart shakes every time his eyebrow ring glints in the sun or he levels his opaque stare on me with an intensity matched by nothing else.
My desire to keep my personal life personal drowns at the bottom of the pool when a fellow Elite lets everyone in on my business, which throws Max into macho protective mode all over again.
Enough is enough, though. I’m forcing myself to move on.
Maybe the best way to forget about my forbidden crush is to find a new one.
I have options. More than I realized.
Unfortunately, none of them are leather-wearing, tattoo-sporting, motorcycle-riding grumpholes.
So here I am wishing for Max while someone else wishes for me.
Someone who decides if they can’t have me…
No one will.
Please note that WISH contains homophobia. There is also mention of off-page child abuse and parental death. This book also contains a male/male sibling-esque relationship and mentions of male assault. Some readers may find these things uncomfortable.
THE REVIEW
I’m pretty sure that I say this every time, but this couple might be my favorite yet!
WISH is the third in the Westbrook Elite series and is all about forbidden love. We get to see all the characters that we’ve already fallen for in this book, but its centered around Wes and Max. Talk about a solid opposites attract love story.
And let me tell you their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Of course, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows in their journey of self-discovery, you get tears, angst, drama, and stalkers… and then comes Chapter 20 and beyond. If you thought the UST was bad before just wait until it gets resolved.
Wesley Sinclair, member of the Elite swim team and freestyle swimmer alongside our Bro, Ryan. Wes is very quiet and probably comes off as shy to some people, but only to those who don’t look further into him. We meet Wes in both WET and WINGSPAN and the brotherly vibes you get from him and the girls is great. Caramel Lattes for the win.
Maxen Navarro, is a tattoo artist, motorcycle rider, and all-around bad boy with a heavy past. We get to see glimpses of him and his softer side in regard to Wes in both of the previous installments of Westbrook Elite. But the depth we get here is beyond amazing. Cambria shows us why Max is the way he is, and what his reasons are for being tough.
With more psychotic stalkers and homophobic idiots than any one person should deal with, Wes and Max have their hands full.
FYI… don’t read after chapter 20 in public… it WILL get you all fired up.
I can’t wait to see what our Westbrook Elite crew has for us next, but with the way you slipped in some teasers, maybe a trip to Bearpaw is in order. 😂 I also can’t wait to see where Win goes from here, you left a very curious reader behind in that epilogue.
Overall, I give this book a solid 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The emotional upheaval I was left in was massive, and I can’t wait for more.
There are some triggers to watch out for and PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to them, but I recommend this book wholeheartedly, and with a big shove in it’s direction!
I received an ARC from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review, which I will always give.
Read this book if you love: MM Romance, Sports Romance, Coming Out, Spicy books, Taboo, Brother’s Best Friend, and amazing storytelling.
Until Next Time!

Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than fifty titles. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.
Besides writing, Cambria loves a pumpkin spice latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching K drama until her eyes won’t stay open. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chihuahuas (the real bosses of the house).
Cambria has written in many genres, including new adult, sports romance, male/male romance, sci-fi, thriller, suspense, contemporary romance, and young adult. Many of her titles have been translated into foreign languages and have been the recipients of multiple awards.
